Boasting a dual-speed range and a lightweight, compact design, the DEWALT DCD775KL 1/2-inch 18-volt cordless compact lithium-ion hammer-drill kit is a user-friendly, powerful tool ready to tackle a range of professional tasks. Powered by long-lasting lithium-ion batteries, the hammer-drill will deliver reliable operation with minimal downtime. The DC527 fluorescent area light is light weight with a stable base, and easy to hang from its pull-out hook.
Flexible and Convenient Jobsite Performance
Fast, powerful, and versatile, this DEWALT DCD775KL 1/2-inch 18-volt cordless compact lithium-ion hammer-drill kit is a must-have for any job site or professional shop. Offering 17 clutch settings and an LED work light for improved visibility in tight spaces or low-light conditions, this hammer-drill has a user-friendly design that keeps things simple so you can get the job done right the first time. It also offers the convenience of a dual-speed range of 0-to-500 or 0-to-1,700 revolutions-per-minute and 0-to-8,500 or 0-to-29,000 blows-per-minute that lets you match the speed to the task at hand for optimal performance. Additionally, make the DEWALT DC527 18-volt fluorescent area light the first light you reach for in the dark. The 13-watt fluorescent bulb lights up a work area for hours on a single charge without getting warm, and the "twist-and-lock" lens cover allows efficient and simple bulb changes.
Lightweight, Compact Design for Tight Spaces
Weighing in at just 4.1 pounds, the DCD775KL lets you work all day without putting excessive strain on wrists and hands, which helps with productivity. Its compact size also makes it easy for you to drill in tight spaces like under sinks, in corners, and in closets. The DC527 fluorescent area light is light weight with a stable base, and easy to hang from its pull-out hook. It can be powered with one of the two included compact lithium-ion 18-volt batteries, or with a slightly larger DEWALT NiCad 18-volt battery (sold separately). Because the DC527 area light can accommodate both battery types, when using the smaller, compact lithium-ion 18-volt battery, the light's base will partially extend over the battery, but will not sacrifice performance.
Lithium-Ion Batteries for Long-Lasting, Quick-Charging Performance
The DCD775KL-F is powered by two compact lithium-ion batteries that are compatible with the existing system of DEWALT 18-volt power tools produced since 1996. These batteries weigh less than NiCad batteries and are long lasting so you can minimize downtime. With the 30-minute charger included in the kit, you should always have the power you need to complete the job at hand.

Great Drill at a Great Price on Amazon! December 17, 2010
Regarding the price...Amazon was running a $25 off sale so I ended up paying on $190 for the drill. Toolking is selling it for $259 and some other online retailers are selling it for between $240 - $260, so the price is great.
FINALLY! A great powerful drill at a great price!!! January 18, 2011
Now, on to the drill itself. The weight of this compact drill & battery weighs about the same, if not less, than my full size Dewalt DCD970 hammer drill WITH NO BATTERY! The compact size makes it great to get into tighter spaces without compromising the angle of approach.
Changing/selecting the gear for the 2-speed "transmission" is very easy/smooth. My DCD970 has a 3-speed transmission and the highest gear is noticeable faster, but, the gear switch to change speeds tend to catch and it takes a lot of play and force to try and change speeds. The DCD775's gear selector is a huge improvement, soooo much easier to select a different gear. And no, the DCD970's gear selector didn't get this bad over time, it behaved the same way when it was new.
The LED drill light is also an added plus to illuminate areas that aren't well lit. By no means is it a replacement for a normal flashlight/shoplight, but, it does come in handy.
The lithium batteries are awesome! No lag or drag, power to drill is kept at 100% until the battery is almost completely drained... unlike NiCad batteries that show signs of a weak battery by gradually losing power. Not the case with this battery, it goes full throttle until it has reached its complete usable band and then shuts off to protect the battery for being fully drained (bad for long term battery life).
30-min charger! Awesome!!!... Read more ›
