Thick titanium coating, nice flex, rarely snap, stay sharp March 26, 2012
You can drill holes in galvanized metal with these and the titanium coating wont even have a scratch in it. If you cock the bit wrong on accident they have more flex than cheaper bits so they are less likely to snap. When they do snap they are good steel in the middle rather than carbon. I've had these for years. I get cheap sets for $10 thinking that I'm saving money and then they snap off in the middle of their very first hole, that literally happened to me with a set of DrillCraft drills, and that just makes the job that much harder, plus you just threw out your money. With drill bits you always get what you pay for. I usually trust Dewalt. Milwaukee's drill bit set on Amazon is $23 as opposed to this set at $29. Usually milwaukee is just as good, but I haven't tried their drill bits so can't say for sure, just pointing it out. Between Bosch, Milwaukee, and Dewalt, I tend to just go for the cheaper of the 3 because I can't tell any difference in quality.

I am a huge fan of anything dewalt they seem to make quality products and have not failed me yet. I use these bits for everyday use and love them. The pilot point seems to help with getting holes started and limits the bit from walking in harder materials. I am yet to break a bit although I have not used the smallest bit as of yet. The case is compact and easy to use. Great for the DIYer in us all.

Dewalt drill bits in general are generally ok, but certainly not the best out there. The price to ok for what you get. The smaller bits tend to bend and wander too easily, even when using a drill press. This tells me that the tips of the smaller bits (and some larger ones) are not very sharp and do not cut in right away, rather, they want to wander vs. drilling in accurately. Center punching is a must, as with most holes drilled anyway. Would not recommend this to a friend, there are better products out there. I'm disappointed in Dewalt quality and will steer away from Dewalt in the future.
